SAN LUIS OBISPO – Cal Poly volleyball players, junior Raeann Greisen, senior Taylor Gruenewald and junior Taylor Nelson were named Big West Women's Volleyball All-Conference First Team, while sophomore Adlee Van Winden was named honorable mention, announced by the Big West Conference on Monday.
This is the second year the trio was named as a first team selection by the Big West Conference.
Holding down the No.1 spot in the Big West for overall and conference assists, Nelson has tallied 1152 assists this season, giving her a career total of 3084. Nelson's season total has landed her in NCAA's No. 6 spot with 11.64 assists per set. The setter is already No. 6 in Cal Poly history for career assists. Nelson set her career high this season against CSUN with 65 assists.
Greisen was one of the team and conference leaders in kills this season, as she boasted 341 overall kills, giving her 3.44 average kills per set and giving her a .244 attack percentage. The outside hitter is also one of the leaders in conference kills with 211 (3.77). Greisen earned Big West player of the Week honor after boasting 32 kills over two matches.
Gruenewald proved to be a leader across the board this season, as she led the team in total blocks with 72. The middle blocker is also second in the conference for overall hitting percentage, with a .367 and third in conference hitting percentage with .351. The senior also boasted 257 kills this season, the third best on the team.
Van Winden, who was named Honorable Mention, led the team in kills with 366. The outside hitter was fourth in overall and in conference kills, as she tallied 217 (3.88 kills per set) in conference play. Van Winden was third on the team in digs with 215 and also had 46 total blocks.
Greisen, Gruenewald, Nelson and Van Winden helped lead the Mustangs to an overall 18-9 record and an 11-5 conference record.
