
Kuszyk, Pilod Lead Cal Poly at Saint Mary’s Invitational

SEASIDE – Sophomore Nolan Kuszyk and junior Louis Pilod (above) combined for eight birdies during Monday’s opening round of the Saint Mary’s Invitational as the duo reside inside the top 30 on the leaderboard.
At the par-72, 7,104-yard Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Club, Kuszyk balanced five birdies against a pair of double bogeys and one bogey to finish even par for a share of 22nd spot.
Pilod, meanwhile, enjoyed three birdies and finished with a one-over 73 and sits 30th. Junior Jack Jarvis, meanwhile, produced three additional birdies as part of a two-over 74 to climb to 41st.
Freshman Zihao Wang and junior Leo Metzger – competing as an independent – share 60th spot with dual four-over 76s. Freshman Rafael Bobo-Lloret, meanwhile, carded a seven-over 79.
As a program, Cal Poly resides in 11th place in the 16-team field with a seven-over 295. The Mustangs are 11 shots back of second-place Saint Mary’s.
Round No. 2 from the Saint Mary’s Invitational gets underway Tuesday morning.
