No. 6 Mustangs Take Down No. 2 UCLA, No. 19 Washington Friday

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. — The No. 6 ranked Cal Poly beach volleyball team continued its incredible win streak, taking down No. 2 UCLA and No. 19 Washington Friday at day one of the Best in the West in Laguna Beach.
The No. 6 Mustangs started off the day beating No. 19 Washington by a score of 4-1. They then took down No. 2 UCLA 3-2 in dramatic fashion via a 20-18 third set victory at the No. 2 spot by Logan Walter and Izzy Martinez to clinch the duel.
The two wins improved Cal Poly’s record to 18-2 and stretch their nation’s-best winning streak up to 16 matches, matching their longest win streak of last season.
Against the No. 2 Bruins, it was the Mustangs’ No. 1 pair of Piper Ferch and Erin Inskeep and the No. 3 pair of Quinn Perry and Lindsey Sparks winning their matches in addition to Walter and Martinez.
Ferch and Inskeep were a perfect 2-0 on the day, also collecting a victory against the No. 19 Huskies. They are now 16-3 on the season together. Martinez and Walter are 18-2.
Cal Poly faces another pair of ranked teams in Laguna Beach Saturday starting at 10 a.m. against No. 3 LMU followed by No. 14 Stetson at 1 p.m.
