Cal Poly End Brandon Roberts Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 Honor

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- For the second straight year, Cal Poly defensive end Brandon Roberts has been selected to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District 8 first team.

Roberts, a 6-1, 250-pound senior from Atascadero and a 2007 graduate of Atascadero High School, has earned a 3.814 grade-point average in forestry and natural resources at Cal Poly.

This season, Roberts has collected 16 tackles (11 solo), including four tackles for lost yardage and one sack. Roberts also has recorded four pass breakups and three quarterback hurries.

In nearly four seasons with the Mustangs, Roberts has recorded 59 tackles (28 solo), seven tackles for lost yardage, three sacks, six pass breakups, seven quarterback hurries and a forced fumble against North Dakota in 2009.

Roberts is now eligible for CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-America consideration.

To be considered for CoSIDA/Capital One all-academic honors, a student-athlete must have compiled at least a 3.30 grade-point average, have completed a full year of classes at his or her college or university and be a significant contributor on the field.

Roberts was a member of Atascadero High School's Honor Roll, earned an Academic Letter and was in the top 30 of his graduating class. He also served as class president.
