SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. --The season continues for Cal Poly senior Andre Dome (Arroyo Grande, Calif./Arroyo Grande HS), who found out that he will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's Singles Championships to be held May 22-27 at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex/Atkins Tennis Center in Urbana, Ill.
The singles tournament will begin following the conclusion of the team championship, which runs from May 16-21. The University of Illinois will serve as host.
This is Dome's second straight trip to the NCAA singles championship. Last year, he fell in the first round to the nation's third-ranked player, Eric Quigley of Kentucky, in a highly competitive 7-5, 6-4 match.
Dome returns to the national stage looking to advance through the 64-player bracket. He won't know his opponent until the pairings are determined prior to the event.
Dome is ranked No. 29 nationally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. He climbed as high as No. 22 on March 26. Dome has some impressive wins on his résumé this season, including a 6-2, 6-2 rout on March 17 of the nation's No. 4-ranked player, Matija Pecotic of Princeton. Dome also defeated No. 92 Ben Davis of Middle Tennessee State on March 11.
The two-time Big West Player of the Year and four-time All-Big West First Team selection is an astounding 21-2 in dual matches this season at No. 1 for Cal Poly. He takes a 19-match win streak into the national tournament, and has not lost since the end of January.
