2010-11 – Followed a steller sophomore season with a brilliant junior campaign culminating with a second-place national finish and 31-2 overall record … only losses of the year were to the same wrestler – Kellen Russell of Michigan – in a 3-2 decision at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational and by the same score in the NCAA Championships … finished second in both tournaments and also won the Fullerton Open and Midlands en route to second straight Pac-10 championship … four of his wins were by fall and Novachkov also won four matches by technical fall and five by major decision … a spotless 11-0 in dual meets with two pins and a pair of technical falls … 10-2 against nationally ranked wrestlers, including a 3-1 decision against No. 1 Zack Bailey of Oklahoma and 4-2 and 3-1 victories over Boise State’s Levi Jones, the latter for Pac-10 title … was third Mustang in last four years to place second in the NCAAs, following Chad Mendes (2008) and Chase Pami (2009) … led team in takedowns in dual meets with 30.
2009-10 – A stellar sophomore campaign ending with All-American honors as he placed seventh in the NCAA National Championships with a 4-2 record … pinned Steve Bell of Maryland in 4:26 in final match … both losses in nationals were decided in overtime – a 5-4 verdict against No. 4 Jordan Oliver of Oklahoma State and a 2-1 decision against No. 8 Tyler Graff of Wisconsin … finished the season 28-5 with four falls, one technical fall and four major decisions … captured the Pac-10 title at 133 pounds with a 4-3 decision over Brandon Low of UC Davis, avenging a 6-3 loss to Low in a dual meet two weeks earlier … 8-2 in duals and 20-3 in tournaments … placed first in the Missouri Open and Las Vegas Invitational and was second in the Reno Tournament of Champions … 7-5 record against nationally ranked wrestlers … switched places in lineup with his brother, Filip, with Boris wrestling at 141 and Filip at 133 for the 2010-11 season.
2008-09 -- Redshirt ... posted 9-0 mark competing unattached with a 4-0 mark in Fullerton and 5-0 record in California Open ... one win by technical fall and two more by major decision.
2007-08 -- Finished 19-12 overall and 3-5 in duals as a true freshman ... upset top seeded T.J. Dillashaw of Cal State Fullerton to take third at the Pac-10 Championships ... NCAA Championship qualifier ... defeated No. 14 Brandon Kinney of Columbia in a 125-pound match, 3-1, on Dec. 1 at the Cliff Keen/Las Vegas Invitational where he finished seventh against a highly competitive field ... was 15-6 at 125 pounds before moving up a weight class ... notched one fall and four major decisions on the year.
