Cal Poly Drops Game to Cal, 4-1

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif- Cal Poly Women's Soccer Team suffered the team's first lost of the season against California with a 4-1 loss.  The Mustangs came into the match with a record of 3-0-1 while the Golden Bears were at 2-2-0.  Cal Poly would score a goal before the match ended.

Cal Poly was able to take three shots in the first half, but Cal took 10 shots.  The Golden Bears were the first to score 11 minutes into the game off a shot from Kaitlyn Fitzpatrick on a quick pass from Ifeoma Onumonu.  The first half would end with a score of 1-0.

In the second half, Cal would make the strike first when Taylor Comeau scored in the 48th minute from five yards out into an open net off the pass from Kory Lamet.  In the 55th minute of the game, Emi Lawson headed the ball into the net off a corner kick from Thelma Einarsdottir.  She gained a second assist less than 10 minutes later when Nina Pederson scored at 64:21.

Cal Poly's Cici Kobinski scored Cal Poly's lone goal of the game.  She took the shot from 15 yards out past the goalie into the back left corner of the goal in the 78th minute.  It was Kobinski's first goal of the season.

Cal Poly will next face Saint Mary's at home on Sept. 7 for a 7pm game.  The Mustangs then face Oregon State on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 11 am for another home game.
