Keddy Selected for U.S. Women's National A2 Team Program

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- USA Volleyball has selected 48 athletes, a list that includes Cal Poly's Jennifer Keddy, to participate in this summer's U.S. Women's National A2 Team Program.

The 48 U.S. Women's National A2 Team Program players hail from 34 different collegiate programs. The A2 program includes eight liberos, 12 middle blockers, 14 outside hitters, six opposites and eight setters.

Keddy, a two-time AVCA All-America selection, was named the 2011 Big West Conference Player of the Year when she led the conference with 4.06 kills per set.

The 6-4 middle blocker was also third in hitting percentage with a .339 clip and blocks with a 1.22 average. Keddy's 4.85 points per set average ranks first in the Big West and 22nd in the nation. Her all-around skills include 1.76 digs per set with her career-high 19 coming against UC Irvine.

Hailing from Missoula, Mont., she became the first Mustang to earn Collegiate Volleyball Update ( National Player of the Week accolades. She did so back on Oct. 18, after posting a pair of career-highs with 22 kills and 17 digs. Latter in the season she established a new career-high of 28 kills against UC Irvine.  

Training for the A2 program begins June 26 at Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, while the matches will be held June 30 to July 4 during the USA Volleyball Girls' Junior National Championships (GJNC) at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

During the pre-tournament training session, the 48 athletes will be divided into four teams of 12 players that will play one match per day during the GJNC. All matches will be A2 competing against each other in a round-robin format followed by a semifinal and final round.

The 2012 U.S. Women's National A2 Team program was selected through the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts held Feb. 10-12 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. A record 207 athletes participated in the tryout.

Athletes in college and with collegiate eligibility remaining for the 2012 collegiate season not selected to join the U.S. Women's National Team were eligible for the U.S. Women's A2 program.

Joining Keddy from the Big West Conference includes two players from UC Irvine; Alyssa Squires and Kristin Winkler.
