SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly women’s basketball fans will get their first look at the 2025-26 Mustangs this week. The Mustangs will host NAIA Simpson University Thursday for an 11 a.m. exhibition game inside Mott Athletics Center.
Admission to the game is free for everyone. It will be the annual ‘Field Trip Game’ with over a thousand local elementary school students in attendance. The game will not be streamed but fans can follow live stats online at GoPoly.com.
Under fourth year head coach Shanele Stires, Cal Poly returns seven players from last year’s team that reached the Big West Championship Quarterfinals. The returners are highlighted by sophomores Nora Perez, Alana Goosby, Gabby Robinson, and Ana Moleon Hidalgo.
However, it is a team with nine newcomers, six freshmen and three transfers. Without a true senior on the team, the Mustangs will be one of the youngest teams in the Big West this season.
Friday’s exhibition will be the one and only tuneup game for the Mustangs before opening the regular season at home Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. against Division III UC Santa Cruz.
