SECOND-ROUND RESULTS
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Nicholas Mok and Austin Liu both carded rounds of 71 Thursday end enter the final round of the El Macero Classic men's golf tournament in the top 20.
Mok is tied for 12th place after his second 71 for a two-under-par 142 total while Liu is tied for 17th place with his 143 total. Mok carded three birdies and a pair of bogeys while Liu checked in with three birdies and two bogeys as well.
Cal Poly dropped two spots into sixth place in the team standings following the second round but is only 11 strokes off the pace set by Long Beach entering Friday's final round.
The Mustangs have posted four-person 286 and 293 totals for a three-over-par 579 total on the 7,138-yard, par-72 El Macero Country Club course. Long Beach State owns an eight-under-par 568 aggregate followed by Fresno State at 569 and Santa Clara and Loyola Marymount, both with 572 totals.
Cal Poly's other scores were a 75 by Will Draper and a 78 by Baron Szeto as both Mustangs are tied for 45th place with 148 totals, and a 76 by Adil Bir Singh for a 154 total and 73rd place.
Competing as an individual, Parker Mapes posted a second-round 77 for a 153 total and 67th place.
Individual co-leaders after 36 holes are Tyler Schafer (67-70) of Long Beach State and Thomas Hutchison (69-68) of UC Davis with seven-under-par 137 totals, one shot ahead of Santa Clara's Zack Kaneshiro (69-69).
Liu is fifth in total birdies for 36 holes with nine while Mok is ninth in total pars with 25.
