Cal Poly Claims Ninth Place in Duck Invitational

EUGENE, Oregon -- Tanner Podres and Will Draper shared 26th place, highlighting Cal Poly's performance in the final round of the Duck Invitational hosted by the University of Oregon on Tuesday at the Eugene Country Club.
Podres carded a final-round 74 for a 10-over-par 223 total while Draper recorded a 73 on the 7,015-yard, par-71 course as they shared the 26th spot on the leaderboard with four other golfers.
Hugo Townsend of Boise State notched a final-round 70 to claim medalist honors in the 54-hole, two-day tournament, compiling a six-under-par 207 total. Noah Woolsey of Washington posted a 69 for a 209 total, two strokes behind Townsend, while Tom Gueant of Oregon and Spencer Tibbits of Oregon State shared third place at 210.
Oregon State overtook Oregon to win the team title. The Beavers tallied 286 strokes Tuesday while Oregon checked in with a 292. Boise State claimed third place at 868 and the Mustangs finished ninth among 15 teams at 900.
In addition to Podres and Draper, Cal Poly's other scoring golfers were Joey Zambri with a final-round 77 for a 227 total and 40th place, Luke Adam with an 80 for a 230 total and 56th place, and Austin Liu with a 77 for a 236 total and 74th place.
Podres finished sixth in par-4 scoring at three over par while Zambri and Draper were tied for 11th with 35 pars each.
Cal Poly takes one day off before returning to action Thursday through Saturday at The Goodwin hosted by Stanford on the Stanford Golf Course.
