
Mok, Liu Lead Cal Poly in First Round of El Macero Classic

EL MACERO, Calif. -- Nicholas Mok and Austin Liu posted scores in the top 25 on the opening day of play in the El Macero Classic hosted by UC Davis on Saturday at the El Macero Country Club.
Both Mustang golfers recorded one-over-par 73s on the 7,110-yard, par-72 course and are tied for 24th place with nine other golfers. Mok (pictured above) and Liu both carded three birdies and four bogeys.
Ethan Farnam of Saint Mary's blistered the course with a 65 for a three-stroke advantage over Matthew Sutherland of Fresno State. Five other golfers share third place with 69s.
Luke Adam of Cal Poly is tied for 35th place with a 74, recording four birdies and six bogeys, while Mustang teammate Joey Zambri is tied for 50th with a 76.
Cal Poly is 10th in the 15-team field with a four-person eight-over-par 296 total. Saint Mary's leads the way with a 10-under-par 278, followed UC Davis at 282 and Pacific at 284.
Adam is tied for second in par-3 scoring at one under par. Zambri and Mok are tied for No. 9 in par-5 scoring at two under par while Liu is 10th in par-4 scoring at even par.
Zambri and Adam are tied for seventh with four birdies.
Second round will be played Sunday with the final round set for Monday.
